The Anglican Church still anchors so many Bahamian communities, from Christ Church Cathedral in Nassau to the tiny stone churches on Cat Island where the whole congregation knows your name. Sundays mean hymns from the red book, the organ shaking the walls, and ladies in white suits fanning themselves with church programs. The church is where the announcements carry more news than the radio.
