Barekentan
The great feast before lent, and Armenians do not hold back. Dolma, khorovats, pakhlava, every meat and butter dish appears because tomorrow begins seven weeks of restraint. Children go door to door in costumes singing "Barekentan, barekantan, ashkharhyn aveli kantank," and neighbors fill their baskets with gata and dried fruit.
