Before Lent kicks in, the streets fill with murgas, comparsas, and people throwing espuma at each other. Corrientes and Gualeguaychu throw the biggest desfiles, but every barrio has its own comparsa rehearsing in the club for months beforehand. The candombe drums echo through the hot summer nights.
