Ruz el Krima
In Algerian culture, the request for forgiveness is ritualized and sacred. After a conflict, after a misunderstanding, after the silence that can last months or years between families, the moment of krima arrives when one party extends the hand and the other accepts it. The krima is not weakness, it is strength. It is the recognition that relationships matter more than pride, that the community matters more than the individual. The ritual often involves tea, sometimes a meal, always the words "allah yahfdek" and "rabbi ysemmah." Today is the day to make the krima you have been avoiding, to end the silence, to repair the fracture.
